Indian Head Gold Half Eagle (AU) 1908-1929
Note -- the $5 Indian Head Gold Half Eagle is not to be confused with the new American Gold Eagle Coin, which is a modern, non-circulating coin produced for buyers who invest in gold bullion.
Indian Head $5 Gold Half Eagles were the last Half Eagles produced by the United States Mint, minted between 1908 and 1929, with production being stopped during the First World War. With the abandonment of the gold standard in 1933, multitudes of Gold Half Eagles were melted down -- much of the surviving stock was repatriated from overseas decades later.
Collectors buy Indian Head Gold Half Eagles more than the other designs of Half Eagle, in a large part due to the unique incuse design, which was not initially popular with the public but has since become highly desired among collectors. CBMint is the best place to buy Gold Half Eagles online, featuring the best prices and unquestionable product quality and authenticity.

Details of $5 Indian Head Gold Half Eagles
Designed by Bela Lyon Pratt as part of the overhaul of American coinage in the early 20th century, the incuse Indian Gold Half Eagle is (along with the contemporary Gold Quarter Eagle) the only example of US coins stamped in incuse, meaning the coins are stuck so that the flat surfaces are the highest points on the coin. The obverse of the Indian Head Half Eagle shows an American Indian in profile wearing a feathered headdress. The mint date is also located on the obverse.
The reverse shows a large eagle perched on a group of arrows which are wrapped in an olive branch. Mottos are also stamped on the reverse, also in incuse.
